Comprehensive Travel Vaccination Advice and Administration

When travelling outside Canada, you may be at risk for a number of vaccine preventable illnesses.

Before you travel, book an appointment with The Travel Clinic.

Amy Bulnes, RN, will consult with you to determine what you need to be well informed and to stay safe.

• Protect yourself and your family by staying up-to-date on scheduled and recommended vaccinations

• Learn about common diseases in your travel destination and how to prevent them

• Inform yourself on travel notices and advisories and how they can affect your travel plans

Travelling overseas dramatically increases health risks and the possibility of contracting serious infections.

That's why it is important to make sure you are vaccinated before travelling to another country.

Vaccines expose the body to a small dose of specific diseases which are prevalent in the areas of the world you're going to visit. By getting vaccinated prior to your trip, you will strengthen your immune system as it develops immunity.

Not vaccinating puts you at a greater risk of catching common preventable diseases.

  • Chickenpox
  • Meningococcal
  • Cholera
  • Pneumococcal
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Flu (Influenza)
  • Polio
  • Hepatitis A
  • Rabies
  • Hepatitis B
  • Shingles
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
  • Typhoid
  • Yellow Fever

Health risks vary from one country to another and there may be new outbreaks in certain areas. As well, some countries may even deny you entry unless you have the required vaccinations which is why we provide immunization certificates are provided to all clients.

WHO SHOULD GET A "TRAVEL SHOT"?

  • Those concerned about the state of their health or where age is a factor
  • Current risks based on your specific destination
  • Safety standards at your accomodation
  • The time of year you're travelling

Our role is to provide the most current information necessary so that you can make an informed choice as to what immunization you'd prefer based on your itinerary. Determining what level of risk you're comfortable with is part of our consultation.
